Detailed Job Description
The Operation Theatre Technician will prepare the theatre according to the procedure list, check lights, suction, cautery, monitors, operating tables and basic equipment, arrange sterile instruments and consumables, assist with patient positioning, support aseptic preparation and maintain accurate count and documentation practices as per facility protocol. The role includes coordinating with CSSD for sterilised sets, helping manage implants or special items where required, supporting anaesthesia and surgical teams within authorised scope, cleaning and resetting the theatre after cases, segregating biomedical waste correctly and reporting equipment faults immediately. The technician must also maintain confidentiality, protect patient dignity and remain attentive during emergency changes to the surgical schedule.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be reliable, observant and able to work under pressure without compromising sterility or documentation. They should understand surgical checklists, instrument handling, infection-control standards and the importance of communication between theatre, anaesthesia, recovery and ward teams. Candidates with experience in laparoscopic, orthopaedic, ENT, gynaecology or general-surgery theatres will be preferred.
Licensing / Registration Notes
Candidates should possess recognised OT technology training and any employer-required certification or competency documentation. Final hiring will depend on practical assessment, document verification and confirmation of experience in a comparable surgical setting.
